VertEV Enters Kolkata with Rental Electric Vehicles, Creating New Gig Economy Opportunities

Published:

Kolkata : VertEV, a pan-India electric mobility company focused on electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, has officially launched its rental electric mobility operations in Kolkata in strategic association with Aralias Agency LLP. The move marks a significant milestone in VertEV’s national expansion and underscores its commitment to making sustainable, affordable mobility accessible across India’s major urban centres.

Kolkata has been identified as a priority market owing to its dense population and rapidly expanding last-mile delivery ecosystem. VertEV’s operations in the city will primarily cater to delivery partners, fleet operators, small businesses, and individual riders through electric two-wheelers and L5-category electric three-wheelers.

The company has introduced flexible rental and partner-led deployment models designed to eliminate high upfront costs and long-term financial commitments. Under its B2C rental model, electric two-wheelers are available at ₹210 per day, with a minimum seven-day rental of ₹1,470 per week. The entire process is digital and cashless, facilitated through VertEV’s mobile application, with riders having the flexibility to extend rentals using the same vehicle.

Each vehicle offers a minimum range of 80 km, extendable up to 90–95 km with efficient usage. Riders can access public charging infrastructure across Kolkata, including commercial and hospitality locations, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

VertEV also positions its platform as a catalyst for gig economy employment. Delivery partners associated with platforms such as Swiggy, Zomato, BigBasket, Blinkit, and Zepto can earn approximately ₹900–₹1,200 per day without any down payment, EMI burden, or long-term liability.

For electric three-wheelers, VertEV follows a B2B partner model, deploying vehicles with drivers through logistics platforms like Porter under structured revenue-sharing arrangements. The company provides maintenance, servicing, roadside assistance, and insurance at no additional cost, with mandatory KYC and police verification for all riders.

Commenting on the launch, Ravi Shekhar, Director, VertEV, said the partnership with Aralias Agency LLP brings strong local operational expertise, enabling scalable and reliable electric mobility services in Kolkata. Shradhay Kasera, Partner, Aralias Agency LLP, noted that the collaboration aligns with their vision of promoting sustainable transport while creating long-term value for businesses and delivery partners.

Through its Kolkata entry, VertEV aims to reduce urban emissions, strengthen last-mile logistics, and support India’s transition towards zero-emission mobility by 2030.
