In a heartfelt gesture of unity and support, SUDHAMTA FOUNDATION, pan South Asian youth activism platform who recently opened their 8th base in Srinagar, J&K, organized a special saree distribution event for the underprivileged people in West Bengal. The initiative aimed to bring joy and a sense of togetherness among different community members during this festive season aiming towards their motto of this drive : FESTIVAL FOR ALL. The event saw the distribution of over 5000 sarees to women from underprivileged families in and around various slums of Kolkata. The gesture was a part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and promoting cultural heritage.
Neha Paul, senior activist said, “We believe in the power of giving back and standing together with other community.” Nandika Das, HR, Sudhamta Foundation, East India, “Our saree distribution event is not just about gifting attire; it’s about spreading love, joy, and the essence of togetherness during this special time of year.”The initiative received an overwhelming response, with community membersexpressingtheirgratitudeforthethoughtfulgesture. “It’sabeautifulfeelingtoreceivesuch a gift, especially when it brings us all together during this festive season” said Razia Bibi a recipient of the saree from Tiljala shed which is managed by Shafkat Alam for more than 20 years.
