A Decade Strong, with countless runners and a nation inspired, this journey of impact and transformation truly embodies #ADecadeofDifference.
The World’s first World Athletics Gold Label Race, scheduled for Sunday, 21st December 2025, will showcase some of the fastest Indian and International athletes alongside thousands of amateur runners on Kolkata’s iconic Red Road. Promoters Procam International today announced that the registrations for the on-ground and virtual run will open tomorrow, Friday, 12th September 2025, on https://tatasteelworld25k.procam.in/.
Marking a decade of excellence, the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata has grown far beyond the boundaries of a traditional road race. Over the past, it has consistently set new benchmarks in organisational excellence, championed equal opportunities for men and women, and reinforced the values of philanthropy and community engagement.
Today, running has become the fastest-growing sport in India. With an over 40% increase in the number of running clubs and running events, participation has surged, with 23% more women taking up distance running. By weaving Kolkata’s cultural heritage with the joy of running, the race has fuelled a vibrant fitness movement that continues to shape the city’s identity. This edition is not just a race, but a celebration of a decade of transformation, inclusivity, and inspiration.
Commenting on the occasion, D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel, said: “Tata Steel proudly celebrates ten years of the TSW25K Run, a landmark event that has become integral to Kolkata’s sporting and cultural fabric. A celebration of running, passion and unity, TSW25K continues to go from strength to strength. I wish the 2025 edition great success.”
Adding sparkle to this year’s celebrations, Bhaichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian football team fondly known as the ‘Sikkimese Sniper’, and Srabanti Chatterjee, one of Bengali cinema’s most acclaimed actresses, will inspire citizens to take the first step towards active living.
Speaking about his association, Bhaichung Bhutia said, “My connection with Kolkata has always been special. It was here, in the City of Joy, that my professional football journey began, providing me with countless memories and immense happiness during my playing days. Today, we are celebrating the 10th edition of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata. It is a special to celebrate this bond and inspire the city and its people to become part of this movement”.
I urge everyone to step out on Sunday, 21st December, to showcase the spirit of Kolkata and make this event a grand success. Let’s mark #ADecadeofDifference a landmark celebration for everyone, whether starting from Red Road or running in from anywhere across the world.”
Srabanti Chatterjee, Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata Ratna, said, “Being associated with the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata is truly special, and it is a proud moment to be part of this landmark year. Continuing to strengthen its association as the exclusive Associate Sponsor, Shreepad Shende, Chief Marketing Officer, IDFC FIRST Bank, said “Running a race and achieving financial wellbeing both need planning and discipline. At IDFC FIRST Bank, our customer-first philosophy empowers individuals on their journey to become financially independent, much like runners charting their path to the finish line. As the TSW25K, Kolkata brings together athletes and enthusiasts from all walks of life. We are proud to continue our partnership with this iconic event that celebrates the spirit, energy, and resilience of Kolkata and its people.
