Kolkata, 9th September 2025: The Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, East India’s largest participatory sporting event, marked another milestone today with the inauguration of a unique Art Exhibition at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The exhibition, curated by acclaimed artist Shri Debasish Mallick Choudhury, will run from 9th to 11th September 2025, between 3 PM and 8 PM, bringing together creativity, sport, and service in a powerful confluence.
The inauguration ceremony held today was graced by eminent dignitaries including Ms. Madhabilata Mitra, Supermodel & Mountaineer; Mr. Chandan Roychoudhury, Bengal Olympic Association & Bengal Paralympic Association;u Mrs. Basabdutta Kar, Mrs India 2024; and Grandmaster & Arjuna Awardee Mr. Dibendu Barua.
Speaking at the inauguration, Grandmaster Dibendu Barua said, “The Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata reflects resilience and discipline—values that art too embodies. This exhibition beautifully brings these worlds together.”
Mr. Chandan Roychoudhury added, “Both sport and art unite and inspire. This initiative honours our athletes, armed forces, and the creativity of Bengal’s youth.”
Featuring 25 young and emerging painters from leading art institutions such as Visva-Bharati University, Rabindra Bharati University, Government College of Art & Craft, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Indian Art College, and Montmartre, the exhibition explores themes of courage, resilience, and national pride.
All proceeds from the exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Bengal Sub Area, Indian Army, will be donated to the Army Welfare Fund, Bengal Sub Area, Indian Army.
