Kolkata, 23rd November 2024: On the occasion of World AIDS Day, *Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital* launched a compassionate initiative by offering free AIDS testing to 100 women from Sonagachi, one of Kolkata’s most vulnerable communities. The program aimed to raise awareness, promote early detection, and provide vital care and guidance in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The event, held under the distinguished leadership of *Mr. Krishna Kumar Gupta, Chairman of Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital,* sought to dismantle the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS while empowering participants with critical knowledge and resources. Beyond testing, the hospital’s dedicated medical team conducted counseling sessions and educational workshops, creating a safe and supportive environment to help participants understand the significance of early detection and adopt safer practices.

Speaking about the initiative, Shri Krishna Kumar Gupta remarked:
_”On this World AIDS Day, we extended a hand of support to a community that is often overlooked. By reaching out to the women of Sonagachi, we aimed to foster awareness and encourage timely testing, which is pivotal in managing and preventing the spread of HIV. At our hospital, we envision a society where healthcare is accessible to all, free from stigma and discrimination. Together, through empathy and decisive action, we can overcome the challenges of HIV/AIDS.”_
