Kharagpur, 22nd November 2025 : Manipal Hospital Broadway, part of one of the leading healthcare providers of
India, Manipal Hospitals Group, hosted an interactive session in Kharagpur today to showcase its excellence in
cardiac care and reaffirm its commitment to delivering world-class healthcare services to communities across Eastern
India. The session was led by Dr. Anindya Sarkar, Consultant – Cardiologist, Manipal Hospital Broadway, who
addressed the media alongside his two patients whose lives were transformed through timely and advanced cardiac
treatment. With 38 hospitals across 19 cities, supported by 10,500+ beds, 7,200+ doctors, and over 60 million lives served, the group’s presence in Eastern India ensures that patients have access to cutting-edge cardiac sciences, 24×7 specialist support, modern Cath Labs, and highly trained multidisciplinary teams.
During the session, the patients shared their personal journeys and the critical role Manipal Hospital Broadway played
during their medical emergencies. Their real-life narratives brought to light the importance of immediate intervention
and the level of cardiac expertise available within the hospital group.
Mrs. Rita Bhavani, recounted the night she arrived at Manipal Hospital Broadway with severe chest pain and ECG indications of a major heart attack. A Coronary Angiography revealed a critical, heavily calcified blockage in the left main artery, one of the heart’s most vital blood vessels. She underwent Rotablation-assisted PTCA, a highly specialized procedure used to treat complex calcified lesions. Today, nearly two years later, she continues to lead a stable, healthy life. Sharing her experience during the session, she said, “I truly thought I would not make it through
that night. Everything happened so fast. Dr. Sarkar and his team were not just skilled, they were compassionate. They explained everything, comforted my family, and saved my life. I will forever be grateful to them.”

Speaking about his experience, another patient, Mr. Mahakant Pathak, a 45-year-old, said, “I reached at the hospital
in the middle of the night with an inferior wall myocardial infarction, further complicated by a complete heart block. I
was immediately taken for a high-risk primary angioplasty to the right coronary artery. The next day when I woke up,
it was a new lease of life for me and I am thankful to the entire team of doctors.”
During his address, Dr. Anindya Sarkar, shared, “Our aim is to ensure that people in this region receive world-class
cardiac care without the stress of travelling far. The technologies and expertise available at Manipal Hospitals, across
all units in Eastern India, allow us to handle even the most complex cardiac emergencies efficiently. The patient
stories shared today are reminders of how timely intervention and modern cardiac science can save lives.”
The successful stories further strengthen Manipal Hospital Broadway’s mission of providing world-class, reliable, and
accessible healthcare to patients across Eastern India, while ensuring that advanced medical care is always within
reach.
