Kolkata, September 03, 2026: Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited (NSE: STARHEALTH, BSE: 543412), India’s leading standalone health insurer, today reinforced its commitment to strengthening health insurance access and healthcare support across West Bengal. The company has settled more than 6 lakh claims worth over ₹3,200 crore in the state since inception, underscoring the scale of financial protection delivered to customers across the region.
West Bengal continues to be an important market for Star Health, supported by a strong on-ground presence comprising 60+ branches and more than 650 network hospitals across the state. In FY26 alone, the company settled over 1.18 lakh claims worth more than ₹600 crore, while in Q1 FY27, it settled 33,000+ claims amounting to over ₹140 crore.

Atin Roy, Business Head – West Bengal, Star Health Insurance, said, “West Bengal is a significant market for us, with customers increasingly looking for health insurance that combines adequate protection, affordability and easier access to quality healthcare. Our network of 650+ hospitals gives us a strong foundation to serve customers across the state, while our expanding distribution presence helps us stay closer to families across both Kolkata and emerging markets. We are building on this through solutions such as technology-enabled claims support, telemedicine and Home Healthcare. The focus ahead is to make health insurance more relevant across the customer’s healthcare journey, improve access to the right care at the right time and strengthen awareness around the importance of adequate health protection. We see considerable opportunity to deepen health insurance adoption across West Bengal by combining local presence with more affordable, accessible and connected healthcare solutions.”
Star Health is building on this scale to strengthen its role across a wider healthcare journey, spanning health insurance, preventive care, medical consultations, hospitalisation support, claims assistance and home-based care. The company continues to invest in its physical network, technology-led claims capabilities and healthcare services to make access simpler and more responsive for customers across West Bengal.
Star Health has progressively expanded its healthcare capabilities beyond hospitalisation support. In FY26, preventive health check-ups increased 42% to 5.48 lakh, telemedicine consultations grew 88% to 1.17 lakh and Home Healthcare utilisation reached 92,153 across more than 300 cities, enabling eligible customers to access clinically appropriate care at home through a cashless model.
Technology is supporting this transition at scale. Star Health processes more than 10,000 claims every day, with 92% of cashless claims processed within three hours. AI currently supports around 20% of routine cashless claims, with the company targeting 50% over the next two years.
