On Mahalaya, Rangoli hands over wheelchairs and Puja sarees to persons with disabilities at Park Street

Kolkata: 10th October 2026 On Mahalaya, the day Devi Paksha begins, ethnic wear brand Rangoli distributed wheelchairs and Puja sarees to persons with disabilities at its flagship store at 97 Park Street — the address where the brand began in 1990.

Smt. Agnimitra Paul was present as chief guest and personally handed over the wheelchairs and sarees to each recipient.

“A saree we give every day. But if a person cannot step out of the house, where is the Puja for them?” said Nikhil Jain, Director, Rangoli.

“We wanted them to go out and see the Thakur this year. That is all this is.”

Thanking the chief guest, Jain said: “We know how little time she has and how hard she has been working since this government was formed.

That she gave this morning to a few families here on Park Street means a great deal to us, and her words today moved everyone in the room.”

Rangoli was founded on 9 February 1990 by Mohan Kumar Jain at 97 Park Street, and over 36 years has grown to eight stores across West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Both the founder and his son were present at the event.

“My father started this shop with one belief — that business is not only about selling,” Jain added.

“Thirty-six years later, Bengal has given this family everything. Today is a small return.”

Rangoli said the Mahalaya distribution will continue as an annual initiative, reaching more people next year.
