The programme commenced at 9:30 a.m. and was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Arnab Nandi, renowned cricket player and coach. The event began with a formal welcome by the Head Girl and Head Boy, followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Principal, Mr. Vishwanath Pandey, who also lit the ceremonial torch. A spectacular torch relay and symbolic balloon release marked the official inauguration, reflecting the school’s commitment to hope, unity, and global well-being.
Students from Nursery to Class XI actively participated in a wide range of sporting events designed to promote physical fitness and mental discipline. The youngest participants from Nursery to PP2 charmed the audience with Christmas-themed races such as “Elves at Work” and “Dashing Reindeers,” followed by a lively Carols Mashup. Senior students showcased speed and stamina through competitive 80m, 100m, and 200m sprints, along with 4×100m relay races.
The disciplined March Past and Oath-Taking ceremony set the tone for the day, complemented by captivating Yoga and Karate performances that reinforced the SDG focus on health, balance, and self-discipline.
Promoting inclusivity and camaraderie, the meet also featured community-centric events such as the Parents’ Crab Race, Teachers vs. Students Tug-of-War, and special races for support staff, fostering a strong sense of togetherness across generations.
Achievements were celebrated through prize distribution ceremonies held throughout the day. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, reaffirming the school’s mission to nurture resilient, socially responsible learners.
“Having a sporting icon like Arnab Nandi inspire our students was truly special. By linking sports with the SDGs and the spirit of Christmas, we reinforced that physical strength and moral responsibility must go hand in hand,” said Mr. Vishwanath Pandey, Principal, Narayana School Maheshtala.
