_● Narayana Health – Howrah revolutionizes urological care in eastern India with groundbreaking extraordinary surgical interventions in complex procedures_
*Howrah, November 2024:* A 24-year-old young man, a 78-year-old senior, and a 45-year-old man suffering from life-threatening urological conditions recently received a new lease of life through advanced urological and robotic care at Narayana Health – Howrah. At Narayana Health – Howrah, three complex urological cases were successfully treatedby a highly experienced medical team.
In the first case, a 24-year-old man suffering from the rare and challenging condition Primary Bladder Neck Obstruction (PBNO), which severely disrupted his urinary function and quality of life, sought help at Narayana Health – Howrah after failed treatments elsewhere. A comprehensive evaluation, including uroflowmetry, cystoscopy, and urodynamic studies, confirmed the diagnosis. The medical team performed an Endoscopic Bladder Neck Botulinum Toxin Injection, marking the first time this procedure was conducted in Eastern India.
Dr. Boppana Venkata Bhargava, Consultant in Urology and Uro-Oncology,said, “PBNO is a complex condition with limited treatment options. By leveraging advanced diagnostic tools and innovative procedures, we could provide substantial relief to the patient, who was discharged the same day and has since experienced a significant improvement in his symptoms.”
In the second case, a 78-year-old man endured prolonged abdominal discomfort caused by a large retroperitoneal mass near critical blood vessels. Advanced imaging revealed a 7.1×6.5×5.7 cm tumor partially encircling the aorta and adhering to the renal vein. The team performed a meticulous surgery, carefully mobilizing surrounding organs and successfully removing the tumor.
“This case required precision and careful planning, given the tumor’s proximity to vital blood vessels and the patient’s advanced age. It’s gratifying to see the patient return to his normal activities with minimal disruption,”Dr. Bhargava explained.
In the third case, a 45-year-old man diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) underwent a minimally invasive robotic radical nephrectomy using the advanced da Vinci robotic surgical system. The procedure minimized post-operative discomfort and accelerated recovery, enabling the patient to resume daily activities promptly.
Highlighting the importance of robotic surgery in managing complex cases, Dr. Bhargava added, “Using cutting-edge technology like the da Vinci system allows us to achieve superior surgical precision and improve patient outcomes significantly.”
Addressing a press conference, Dr Bhargava said, “Each case involved a challenging medical condition requiring expertise, precision, and the latest surgical innovations. This reinforces our reputation as a leading institution for specialised care. Our leadership in urological surgery serves as a beacon of hope for patients in Eastern India, who now have access to world-class treatment close to home.”
With a focus on minimally invasive procedures, Narayana Health – Howrah continues to set benchmarks in urological surgery, offering patients in Eastern India access to advanced treatments and improved outcomes.
These complex cases mark a major milestone in Narayana Health’s commitment to pioneering treatment methods and delivering top-tier medical care to our community. By adopting cutting-edge surgical technologies, we aim to ensure patients receive world-class treatment close to home, enhancing their quality of life and recovery experience,” concluded Mr. Tapani Ghosh, Facility Director of Narayana Health – Howrah & Chunavati.
