MSMEs Play a Pivotal Role in Building Vishwakarma Bengal: FASII

Kolkata, June 29. On the occasion of International MSME Day 2026, the Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India (FASII) successfully organized a national seminar at the ICCR Auditorium in Kolkata on the theme “Immense Potential of MSMEs in a Developed Bengal.” The event witnessed significant participation from industry leaders, government representatives, banking and financial institutions, startups, academicians, and entrepreneurs. The seminar conveyed a strong message and collective commitment to positioning West Bengal as a leading industrial and entrepreneurial hub in the country.

The program received valuable support from Infrafusion Engineering Limited (IFL). Distinguished guests, including Minister Deepak Barman, Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Dr. Indranil Khan, and Ashok Dinda, emphasized the importance of prioritizing the MSME sector as a key driver of economic growth, employment generation, innovation, and self-reliance.

FASII National President Saileshwar Panda, in his address, stated, “For West Bengal to achieve sustainable development, prosperity, and employment growth, the MSME sector must be integrated into the core of the development agenda. This sector has the potential to transform youth from job seekers into job creators.” He further urged the state government to implement industry-friendly policies, streamline approval processes, ensure access to financial support, provide adequate subsidies, develop world-class industrial infrastructure, and promote an export-oriented ecosystem.

The seminar featured comprehensive discussions on critical topics such as industrial policy reforms, access to credit, digital transformation, AI-driven manufacturing, technological innovation, export promotion, startup development, women entrepreneurship, skill enhancement, and rural industrial expansion. Participants unanimously agreed that coordinated efforts among the government, industry, and financial institutions could position West Bengal as a leading MSME and manufacturing hub.

An inspirational song dedicated to industrial development and entrepreneurship was also launched during the event, fostering enthusiasm and confidence among attendees.

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, free sewing machines were distributed to economically disadvantaged women with the support of Infrafusion Engineering Limited (IFL). This initiative aims to promote self-employment, economic independence, and sustainable livelihoods, thereby contributing to rural economic development.

A notable highlight of the seminar was the presence of esteemed spiritual leaders. Revered figures, including Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Paramatmanand Giri Ji Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission, Padma Shri Swami Pradiptanand Ji Maharaj (Kartik Maharaj) of Bharat Sevashram Sangh, and Maharaj Hiranyamay Goswami Ji, emphasized the complementary relationship between industry, entrepreneurship, labor, and nation-building, and encouraged collective participation in the mission of industrial development.

During the event, leading industrialists and entrepreneurs were recognized for their contributions to industrial growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Honorees included Dr. Ajit Kumar Jain, Sanjay Goenka, Anil Chanani, Somnath Adukia, among others.

The successful execution of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of FASII West Bengal Chairman Sanjay Sureka, National Economic Advisor Shobhit Chhavchharia, Vice President Devdutt Banerjee, and other office bearers and members.
