House of Lords Witnesses Third Edition of Bengal British Icon Awards Celebrating Stalwarts Across the Global South Asian Diaspora

London, June 26, 2026: The 3rd Edition of the Bengal British Icon Awards, hosted by Baroness Uddin and organised by Candid Communication UK, was held at the historic House of Lords in the British Parliament, celebrating exceptional individuals and institutions whose achievements have left a lasting impact across diverse fields of excellence.

Held at the iconic Cholmondeley Room and Terrace, the ceremony brought together an influential gathering of policymakers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, academicians, philanthropists and changemakers from the United Kingdom, India, Bangladesh and beyond. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries including The Rt Hon Baroness Uddin, The Rt Hon Baroness Winterton of Doncaster DBE, Former MP Virendra Sharma, Mr Atique Choudhury, Mrs Khaleda Choudhury, Ms Hasina Khan and Ms Shila Rashid. The awards ceremony was elegantly hosted by acclaimed broadcaster, actor and former BBC and Sky News presenter Sarah Lockett.

Recognised as a prestigious platform celebrating excellence across the global South Asian diaspora, with a special emphasis on the shared cultural heritage of Bengal, the Bengal British Icon Awards honoured an extraordinary line-up of leaders, visionaries and changemakers whose contributions continue to shape industries, uplift communities and inspire future generations.

This year’s distinguished honourees included Sakuntala Sanyal, CEO and Executive Director of SBI UK; Jaya Mishra, renowned Fashion Designer; Soma Chakraborty, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Goodace Hospital and President of Gouris Foundation; Subrina Hossain, CEO and Director of NTV Europe; Prof. Dr. Parvez Iqbal Haris, Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Science at De Montfort University, UK; Dr. Syed Ragib Ali, Educationist, Philanthropist and Entrepreneur; Tapan Roy, Founder of ATN Bangla Television and Media Entrepreneur; Dr. M.P. Rozario, Principal of St. Sebastian’s School, Kolkata; Satya Prakash Sangwan, Vice-President of the Paralympic Committee of India; Rajiv Sabharwal, Chairman of Real Impact Pvt. One of the most poignant moments of the afternoon was the conferment of a special posthumous honour upon Late Dabirul Islam Choudhury OBE, in recognition of his extraordinary legacy of philanthropy, humanitarian service and unwavering commitment to community welfare. His life and work continue to serve as an enduring source of inspiration across generations.

The celebrations ended with an exclusive guided tour of The British Parliament, offering award recipients a rare opportunity to experience the rich democratic heritage and architectural grandeur of one of the world’s most iconic institutions The Palace of Westminster. The ceremony was followed by an exclusive networking luncheon hosted by The Rt Hon Baroness Uddin, bringing forth meaningful conversations, collaborations and connections among distinguished guests, awardees and community leaders.
