Kolkata, 18th Feb, 2025 : Hindusthan Club marked a historic milestone with the celebration of its Foundation Day 2025, heralding the beginning of its 80th-year celebrations. The momentous occasion was graced by Shri Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Mayor of Kolkata, along with esteemed dignitaries, club members, and distinguished guests who have contributed significantly to society. Among the esteemed guests were H.E. Mr. Xu Wei, Chinese Consul General in Kolkata, and Mr. M.V. Kozlov, Russian Consul General in Kolkata.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome by the event emcee, highlighting the Club’s glorious legacy in culture, sports, and community service. The National Anthem was performed, followed by an address by Shri Firhad Hakim, who commended the Club’s unwavering commitment to fostering excellence and camaraderie.
As part of the celebrations, Hindusthan Club proudly conferred the prestigious Hindusthan Club Sammaan upon distinguished personalities whose contributions have brought immense pride to the Club and society at large. The esteemed awardees for this year were:
• Shri Prahlad Rai Agarwal – Visionary entrepreneur and Chairman of Rupa & Company Ltd., instrumental in building India’s first organized hosiery brand and generating employment for thousands.
• Shri Sajjan Bhajanka – Founder and Chairman of Century Ply, a first-generation entrepreneur who transformed India’s plywood industry while driving social welfare initiatives.
• Shri Vivek Gupta – Vivek Gupta – MLA from Jorasakho, a prominent media leader and past president of Hindusthan Club..
• Shri Miraj Shah – Renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, instrumental in shaping Kolkata’s business landscape.
Each of these luminaries was honored through a special audio-visual tribute, followed by their felicitation by Hindusthan Club’s leadership, including Mr. Rishabh C. Kothari (President), Mr. Sanjay Goenka (Vice President), and Mr. C. S. Sarda (Hon. Secretary).

A special highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the 80th-year commemorative logo, symbolizing Hindusthan Club’s rich legacy and aspirations for the future. The logo launch was accompanied by an exclusive audio-visual presentation, taking the audience on a nostalgic journey through the Club’s remarkable history.
The event also featured the felicitation of key figures, including Mr. Ashim Basu, a revered leader and dynamic personality from Bhawanipur, known for his relentless service to the community. The Club’s executive members, including Mr. Kamal Ghelani (Treasurer), Mr. Dhruv Agarwal (Joint Secretary), and Mr. Saurabh Shah (Joint Secretary), led the felicitation ceremony.
