The inaugural on-ground edition of the Fever SuperWomaniya Awards, held on 18th November at ITC Grand Central, Parel, brought together an inspiring mix of achievers and thought leaders to honor women redefining success and driving change across India.
The Superwomaniya Show has been on air for the last 5years, giving us numerous heartfelt moments during multiple conversations with women from all walks of life over these many years bringing inspiring stories, celebrating women breaking boundaries, championing empowerment, and paving the way for future generations
The evening was graced by esteemed personalities who embody excellence and resilience, including actress and gender justice advocate Huma Qureshi, fearless journalist Barkha Dutt, celebrated actress Taapsee Pannu, renowned comedian & TV personality Bharti Singh, actor Rasika Duggal, Chhaya Kadam, singer & performer Sona Mohapatra, acclaimed screenwriter, Kanika Dhillon & Olympian Manu Bhaker to name a few.
The event saw some new brewing bonding between Raja Kumari -Taapsee Pannu, and Rasika Duggal’s fan-girl moment with India’s favourite Nisha Madhulika. The conclave also witnessed the smashing of a century-old patriarchal notion of considering motherhood and success two different subjects when financial influencer Neha Nagar joined the panel with her one-year old daughter! Global sensation Raja Kumari also shared some verses of her next celebrating womanhood! Of course, Superwomaniya Awards couldn’t have been more perfect without Sona Mohapatra’s impromptu performance on ‘Mujhe Kya Bechega Rupaiya’ with Ram Sampath.
The conclave also celebrated the real-life SuperWomaniyas – Roshni Perween, the heart and soul behind the Janta Express Welfare Foundation, is a shining light for thousands in need. Recognized by the United Nations as the ‘Young Activist Laureate 2023,’ Roshni has rescued countless young girls from the clutches of child marriage and domestic violence. Babli Gambhir was born with physical challenges, but she didn’t let that define her. With sheer grit, she built a thriving beauty salon that not only supports her but also empowers other young women by creating job opportunities. Bhumika Malinda wears many hats with grace and determination. As the COO of Canopus Media, she’s taken the company to international heights, leading campaigns for over 300 brands. But her heart lies in her work with Sex Shiksha, India’s largest sex education community. Through this initiative, Bhumika is tackling taboos, spreading awareness, and empowering millions with knowledge that can change lives.
Shefali Shah added, “Award nights are always exciting, but this one is more special because we are celebrating women. I feel honoured to be here.” On being quizzed about picking her favourite character, she further added, “I feel lucky to have played strong characters. I, once did a film called “Once again,” then my last venture, “Three of us,” and of course my character from “Darlings.””
Taapsee Pannu added, “As it’s the first time that a ‘Superwomaniya’ award is being held, I have channelised an Indian version of superwoman especially for tonight. I have 4 paintings at my abode, Amrita Pritam, Frida Kahlo, Savitribai Phule and Kalpana Chawla, these women inspire me every day.”
Kanika Dhillon added, “Superwomaniya for me is somebody who doesn’t take no for an answer, somebody who works on herself and doesn’t get worked up.” Kanika further shared a message to the woman tribe, “I feel that women need to believe themselves a little more. There’s are alot of people who will tell them that they are not good enough, but the important thing is to know who you really are and to believe in yourself.”
Ramesh Menon, CEO Radio Business (HT Media Ltd.), shared, “The SuperWomaniya Awards is more than just an event—it is a revolution in recognizing and amplifying the power of women who are redefining boundaries and inspiring generations. This platform is a tribute to their resilience, passion, and impact, driving the narrative of equality and creating a ripple effect of change across society. These stories of strength are the foundation of a better, more inclusive future.”
Huma Qureshi added, “I was very grateful when I heard that I was being felicitated at the Superwomaniya awards. We really need such a platform, such a panel and I am very thankful to be here”
