Kolkata, June 5, 2026 — CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI marked World Environment Day by participating in an environmental initiative, reaffirming the hospital’s belief that healing extends beyond the walls of a clinical setting and into the broader environment that patients, staff, and communities inhabit.
The occasion was marked by the presence of Dr Indranil Khan, an oncologist by profession and recently elected minister, who participated in the tree planting activity at the hospital premises. During his interaction with the medical team, Dr Khan reiterated the collective responsibility framework of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, and Sabka Vishwas”, emphasising that environmental stewardship is a shared obligation that institutions across sectors must take forward together.
Dr Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI, said, “At CMRI, we understand that health is not limited to the treatment of disease. The environment we create around us, the air we breathe, the green spaces we preserve, all of it contributes to the wellbeing of our patients and our community. A hospital that is serious about care cannot be indifferent to the world outside its walls. Environmental responsibility and clinical excellence influence each other. It was heartening to see our medical team come together for this initiative, with senior doctors and staff from across departments participating alongside Dr Khan to mark the occasion.”
CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI remains committed to advancing healthcare that is clinically excellent and environmentally responsible, recognising that the two are inseparable in the pursuit of long-term community health.
