The initiative, running from October 15 to 24, 2025, will be available at all ASG Eye Hospital Centres across India. To ensure accessibility and affordability, patients will only need to bear the costs of pharmacy, anesthesia, and optical services.

The hospital emphasized that eye injuries related to firecrackers remain a significant public health concern, particularly during the festive season. According to 2023 national data, over 2,000 cases of firecracker-related eye injuries were reported across India, with about 60% involving children under 15 and 10% resulting in permanent vision loss.

Studies also show that emergency eye injuries rise by up to 20% during the Diwali period, with males—especially children—being the most affected group. ASG Eye Hospital’s initiative aims to address this preventable issue through timely treatment and public awareness.

“This Diwali, our goal is to ensure a safe celebration for families and protect children from irreversible vision loss,” the hospital stated. “We remain committed to community health and preventive care initiatives that promote safe and responsible festivities.”

Safety Measures to Prevent Eye Injuries During Diwali
ASG Eye Hospital experts recommend the following safety precautions while handling fireworks:

Always wear protective glasses or goggles when lighting or being near fireworks.
Maintain a safe distance of at least 5–6 meters from fireworks and avoid crowded or flammable areas.
Supervise children at all times; do not allow them to light or hold firecrackers.
Avoid using illegal or homemade fireworks; choose certified, low-smoke, eco-friendly options.
Never hold burning firecrackers in your hand or lean over used ones.
Wash hands thoroughly after handling fireworks to prevent chemical exposure.
Keep water buckets or sand nearby for emergencies.

Avoid alcohol or substances that impair judgment while handling fireworks.
In case of an eye injury, avoid rubbing or pressing the eye and seek immediate professional medical help.
