Art and Empathy Take Centre Stage at Prayas Celebration

An enchanting evening of warmth, wonder, and celebration unfolded at a special magic show and dinner hosted by social activist Abhyuday Dugar and legal professional Vivek Jhunjhunwala for the children of “Prayas”, an initiative led by renowned dancer and choreographer Avirup Sengupta. The thoughtfully curated gathering brought together art, compassion, and community in support of children with special needs.

The evening was graced by distinguished guests including Dr Devlina Kumar, Madhabilata Moitra, and Papia Rao, who joined the children and attendees in an atmosphere filled with joy, encouragement, and heartfelt connection.

The event highlighted the remarkable work undertaken by Prayas, where Avirup Sengupta employs dance and creative expression as powerful tools to nurture confidence, emotional wellbeing, and self-belief among special children.

A special highlight of the evening was filmmaker Shrestha Ganguly, who was felicitated for her significant contribution to art and social awareness. She introduced her mental health magazine Florence, a platform dedicated to fostering meaningful conversations around emotional wellbeing, creativity, and mindful living.

The magazine was formally launched by Dr Devlina Kumar, marking a significant milestone in Florence’s journey to amplify voices and awareness around mental health.

The evening beautifully blended entertainment with purpose, celebrating the transformative power of art, empathy, and collective effort in creating inclusive spaces where every child feels seen, valued, and inspired.
