Recently, Kolkata Witnessed a star studded 6th Kolkata International Micro Film Festival – KIMFF 2025.Filmmakers from More Than 25 countries participated in this prestigious Festival.Over 100 movies were screened during the three days extravagant festival From 17th to 19th January 2025.
On the final day, January 19th, Awards were presented for the best short, micro, documentary and mobile films in the International, National and Regional categories. Awards were also given for Best Director, Actor and Actress in these categories.
Director,Journalist and Actor Arnab Biswas made a new record by winning the Best Director award for three consecutive years.This Year for his micro film “Journey” after previously winning for “Apaha Jeevanam” and “Sayahne” at the fourth and fifth editions of the festival.
In the International category, China’s short film “Chill Raven” was awarded Best Short Film, Iran’s Nader Saadat Serki won Best Director, the Best Documentary
Director award went to Igor Ivanov from the USA, and the Best Student Film was “Sunny Side Up” from the Czech Republic.
In the National category, the short film “Waza” and the documentary “Himalayan Odyssey” won the top honors. Actor Arindam Ganguly won Best Short Film Director for “Radhuni.”
In the Regional category, “Banglar Jatra Pala” was awarded Best Student Film, “Am AatirPanchali” won Best Documentary, and “A Walk to Eternity” was recognized as Best Short Film. Several other films were also honored. The award for Best Actress went to the esteemed Bengali actress Chhanda Karanji Chattopadhyay.
Festival Chairperson Nilanjan Bhowmik and Chief Advisor Padmini Dutta Sharma shared additional insights about the event.
Renowned figures from the Bengali film industry, including directors Ananya Chakraborty, Satarupa Sanyal and actors Debdut Ghosh, Arindam Ganguly, Swati Mukherjee, Mallika Sinha Roy, writer Padmini Dutta Sharma, Chumki Chattopadhyay and Jayati Roy, were present at the awards ceremony.
