The Subject prize winners had been felicitated at functions held earlier at South Point School and South Point High School. The Memorial prizes and a few other special prizes were handed over to pupils during these programmes too.

A short cultural programme that followed was both colourful and entertaining. South Point School’s “The Symphony of Life” carried the audience to the magical island of Aranyel where tribal groups have been keepers of the legacy of mystical dances that command the forces of Nature. But no idyllic condition lasts forever and the island of harmonious existence has to face challenges and of course find means to overcome them.

A fascinating tale revolving around the ancient trading route, the Silk Route was the cornerstone of South Point High School’s presentation “A Path Down the Silky Way”. Young Zhen Yung, a Chinese boy, leaves his home in search of his grandfather who had taken the silk route, never to return. The young boy meets him, now a Buddhist, at Sarnath, but fails to convince him to return.

The curtains came down on the evening marked by cheers, standing ovations, entertaining presentations and resounding applause, with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Vice Principal of South Point School Smt. Ditipriya Mukherjee followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
