Lions International District 322B1 Celebrates 25 Years with Special Blood Donation Drive for Thalassemia Support

Published:

Kolkata, July 1, 2025: To mark its silver jubilee, Lions International District 322B1 organized a special blood donation campaign at B-126, Metropolitan Housing Society, Kolkata, with a heartfelt mission — to support thalassemia patients who depend on regular blood transfusions for survival. While the district regularly holds such camps throughout the year, today’s event was a symbolic milestone, celebrating 25 years of dedicated community service.

The campaign was conducted in the presence of Lion Manju Chamaria, District Governor, Lions International District 322B1, PDG Kailash Khandelwal, Chairperson of the Lions Blood Donation Center, and cabinet secretaries Neetu Baid and Nimesh Chaki. Their presence inspired both volunteers and the public. Speaking at the event, District Governor Lion Manju Chamaria shared, “This silver jubilee is not just about the years we’ve completed, but about the lives we’ve touched. It’s a proud moment to see how our consistent efforts are bringing lasting change in society.”

PDG Kailash Khandelwal also reflected on the district’s journey, saying, “We have been supporting thalassemia patients since 2000. Today, some of those very children have grown up to become doctors themselves — a beautiful cycle of care turning into service.”

The drive saw enthusiastic participation from both Lions members and the general public. Alongside the blood donation initiative, the event featured free health check-up booths, awareness sessions on thalassemia, and the importance of regular voluntary blood donation. Long-time donors and volunteers were also felicitated for their selfless contributions.

This year holds special significance as Lion A.P. Singh from District 322B1 is set to take charge as the International President of Lions Clubs International, further elevating the pride and impact of the district’s service legacy.

The entire campaign was carried out in collaboration with licensed medical professionals and certified blood banks, ensuring complete safety and professionalism. All information and coordination for the event were provided by PRO Vijay Jain.

As Lions International District 322B1 steps into its 26th year, today’s celebration stands as a powerful testament to its enduring mission — We Serve.
