Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar’s Candy Cane Lane 2.0, A Celebration of Festivity and Philanthropy

Kolkata, December 21, 2024 – Candy Cane Lane 2.0, the much-anticipated winter carnival hosted by Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar, unfolded on December 21 with boundless enthusiasm and festive cheer. The day-long event brought together students, teachers, parents, and alumni on a shared platform, creating memories that will last a lifetime while championing a noble cause.
A plethora of attractions kept the attendees engaged throughout the day, including thrilling games, engaging exhibition stalls, a lively DJ corner, mesmerizing fashion shows, and tarot card readings. Guests indulged in pottery making and savoured an array of mouth-watering delicacies and confections. Among the highlights of the day were the live performances by parents and students, which stole the hearts of all present.
The carnival was more than just an occasion for celebration – it was a Carnival for a Cause. The funds raised during the event will be directed towards supporting local NGOs, continuing the legacy of philanthropy set in previous editions. Reflecting on last year’s impact, NGOs such as Iswar Sankalpa, Calcutta Blind School, Speech and Hearing Institute and Research Centre, Pathchola, and Kids’ Centre benefited from the proceeds, which were utilized to procure essential utility articles and stationery for their beneficiaries.

“This year’s Candy Cane Lane 2.0 was nothing short of magical. The creativity and entrepreneurial skills of our students, combined with the unwavering support from parents and alumni, have touched everyone’s hearts. Over thousands of attendees joined us, making this event even grander than we imagined,” said Mrs. Sonali Sarkar, Principal of Mahadevi Birla Shishu Vihar. “The spirit of giving and collaboration exhibited here inspires hope and positivity, and we are deeply grateful to all who made this possible.”
The event also witnessed active participation from NGOs such as Sohomormi, Sanchar, Shishur Sevay, and Anando Mandir, with their stalls offering unique products and stories. The Principal expressed her gratitude to these organizations for their involvement, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of philanthropy among the school’s students.

Mrs. Jayati Sengupta, a senior teacher of the school, remarked, “Experiences like Candy Cane Lane 2.0 instill in our students the value of giving back to society. They not only learn the importance of community engagement but also develop skills that go beyond the classroom.”
The school campus was abuzz with excitement throughout the day, as students enthusiastically showcased their talents through well-crafted stalls, intricate decorations, and innovative promotional reels. The event served as a testament to the power of community spirit and creative collaboration.
