All India Triennial General Conference of AINLIEF (INTUC) Held in Kolkata

*Kolkata, 30th November 2024*: The All India Triennial General Conference of the All India National Life Insurance Employees’ Federation (AINLIEF), affiliated with the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), was inaugurated today at Middleton Chamber, 10A Middleton Street, Kolkata. This significant event saw the participation of delegates from across the country and was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Shri MK Raghavan, Member of Parliament; Shri Qamaruzzaman Qamar, President of INTUC West Bengal State; Smt Mita Chakraborty, AICC Spokesperson; Shri V. Narasimhan, General Secretary of AINLIEF (INTUC); Mr. Sanjay Chakraborty General Secretary Eastern Zone ; and Mr. T. Ramchandran General Secretary All India National Life Insurance officer’s Congress (INTUC) .

The conference comes at a critical period when Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India is under threat of disinvestment, despite achieving stellar performances across all parameters. Delegates engaged in discussions surrounding pressing issues that concern both employees and policyholders, emphasizing measures to strengthen LIC and preserve its public sector character.

Prominent issues deliberated during the session included:
• Immediate withdrawal of GST on all insurance premiums.
• Withdrawal of the New Labour Codes.
• Ratification of C-190 by the Government of India
• Revision of pensions every five years.
• Introduction of the Old Pension Scheme for post-2010 recruits
• No further FDI hikes in the insurance sector.
• Recruitment in Class III and IV positions

The conference also focused on strategies to counter privatization moves and safeguard LIC’s role as a pillar of public trust. The delegates’ session will continue tomorrow, 1st December 2024, to finalize actionable resolutions aimed at achieving these goals.
