Twenty kids embarked on a unique Puja Parikrama in Kolkata, enjoying the festivities, artistry and culture of Durga Puja

Kolkata, 14 October 2026: Woodlands Hospital organised the third edition of its flagship community outreach initiative, ‘Khudeder Puja Safar’, offering twenty children a memorable opportunity of experiencing the joy and vibrancy of Durga Puja through a specially curated Puja Parikrama across Kolkata on Chaturthi.
The day began at Woodlands Hospital with prayers and blessings from Goddess Durga and inauguration of the hospital’s Durga idol by the children in presence of Mr. Rupak Barua, Managing Director & CEO, Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital. The ceremonial inauguration was the start of a day packed with festive celebrations, cultural explorations and shared experiences.
During their journey, the children visited some of Kolkata’s famous Durga Puja pandals, and enjoyed the creativity, craftsmanship and celebratory buzz that takes over the city every year. From the admiration of the unique themes and installations to soaking in the lights, colours and celebrations around them, the outing offered a first-hand experience of one of the most cherished traditions of Bengal.
More than just a pandal-hopping excursion, the initiative was about creating moments of happiness, discovery and togetherness. The city came alive with excitement, curiosity and shared laughter as the children explored during its most celebrated festival, making memories that will last long after the festivities end.
Speaking on the occasion, Rupak Barua, Managing Director & CEO, Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital, said, “At Woodlands Hospital, we have always believed that wellbeing is as much about moments of joy and human connection as it is about clinical excellence. Khudeder Puja Safar was created so that more children can experience the magic of Durga Puja and be part of Bengal’s biggest celebration.
Pandal hopping is one of the most loved traditions of the festival that brings people together through art, culture and shared experiences. It’s heartwarming to see the excitement and happiness on the faces of the children as they soak in the festive spirit of Kolkata. It reminds us that care is more than healthcare, it’s about creating meaningful experiences, strengthening communities and enriching lives.”
Now in its third year, Khudeder Puja Safar continues to be a special Durga Puja initiative organised by Woodlands Hospital, illustrating the hospital’s dedication to getting involved in the community and its conviction that care should go beyond the hospital premises. By means of activities like this, the hospital hopes to promote inclusion, establish genuine connections and spread the spirit of joy and unity which is central to the festival.
