TARAKESWAR, Hooghly, 11 October 2026: Tollywood superstars Dev and Subhashree, Bengal’s most-loved on-screen pair, at Silvision Mall, Tarakeswar, this Sunday to celebrate their much-awaited Pujo release, Desu 7, with fans. The evening was hosted by the mall’s Multiplex Partner, Udayan Cinema, Tarakeswar.

The visit answered a long-standing wish of fans of Tarakeswar and its adjoining areas to see the two stars in person, and it came at the perfect moment: on Prothoma, the first day of the Pujo calendar after Mahalaya, as anticipation for Desu 7 builds.

The atmosphere was electric. Dev, with his effortless charm, and Subhashree, radiant and gracious as ever, took centre stage to roaring cheers. The crowd sang, danced and celebrated every moment with them, and the pair greeted their fans with the warmth that has made them household names across Bengal. It was an evening the temple town will remember for a long time.

For Udayan, the evening was more than a celebration. It was an attempt to keep the spirit of the big screen and Bengali films alive, in association with Dev, an acclaimed actor who has carried Bengali cinema to new heights and now steps forward as a director, and the equally talented Subhashree, whose performances have won her a place in the hearts of audiences across generations.

The evening also marks Udayan’s 80th year. Opened at Sheoraphuli in 1946 by Deb Prasad Daw, and later carried forward by his son Partha Sarathi Daw, Udayan became Hooghly’s first two-screen multiplex in 2018.

In 2025 it opened at Tarakeswar, the first national-standard multiplex in a West Bengal panchayat area. Today its halls offer recliner and slider seating, Dolby 7.1.2 sound and laser projection with 3D.

“We want to take cinema back to the people,” said Rudra Prosad Daw, Director, Udayan Cinema Pvt. Ltd. “Eighty years on, we are still a rooted Bengali family-owned cinema at heart, with a deep love for big screens and Bengali films.

We thank our patrons for the years of love and support that kept us going even when others were giving up, and there is no length we will not go to for them.

Along with our parents, Partha and Sumita, Rishika and I look forward to taking this logo into many more properties in Hooghly and beyond. Thank you, Dev and Subhashree, for making this Prothoma so special for Hooghly.

And as we step into the Pujo celebrations from Baba Taraknath’s own town, we pray for his blessings on our industry, and for a glorious renaissance of Bengali cinema.”
