This deep-rooted spirit of patriotism and lifelong contribution came alive today as members of Pronam, the prominent senior citizen support initiative run jointly by The Bengal and the Kolkata Police, gathered to celebrate India’s milestone 80th Independence Day.
The celebrations commenced on Saturday morning with formal flag-hoisting ceremonies at both Pronam offices in the city, bringing together elderly residents for a morning deeply rooted in community, shared remembrance, and national pride. For members who have lived through many of independent India’s most transformative decades, the gathering served as a powerful reminder of the enduring values of freedom, unity, and belonging.
Following the hoisting of the Tricolour, the gathering observed a solemn tribute to the freedom fighters whose historic sacrifices laid the foundation of the nation.
