Doctors’ Day encourages us to recognize that the real measure of success in medicine goes beyond the number of lives saved in hospitals. It also includes the illnesses we help prevent before they even start. Today, healthcare is shifting from a system focused mainly on treating diseases to one that emphasizes preventing them. Every healthy meal, every vaccination, every regular health check-up, every step towards becoming more active and every effort to support mental well-being represents an investment in a healthier future. As doctors, our role goes beyond simply providing medications—we are also teachers, advisers, and collaborators who help people make choices that support long-term health. Prevention is not just a medical approach; it is a collective effort involving doctors, patients, families, and communities. On this Doctors’ Day, let us honour not only the art of healing but also the strength of prevention, as the biggest achievement in medicine is making sure that fewer people require treatment in the first place.
