Acclaimed Film Brings Together Cinema, Social Responsibility and Hope Through a Symbolic Bird Release Ceremony at Polo Floatel

Kolkata, June 2026: As Pinjar prepares for its theatrical release on 10th July 2026, Chasing Dreams Films and Bell Jar Films hosted a unique and meaningful Special Bird Release Ceremony at Polo Floatel, Kolkata, celebrating the film’s central themes of freedom, hope and self-discovery.

Directed by Dr. Rudrajit Roy and produced by Animesh Ganguly, Pinjar is an emotionally resonant cinematic journey that explores the invisible cages that often confine human lives fear, loneliness, grief, social expectations and self-doubt. The symbolic release of birds reflected the very essence of the film: the courage to break free and embrace life with renewed hope.

Speaking at the Special Bird Release Ceremony held on 24th June at Polo Floatel, Director Dr. Rudrajit Roy said, “Pinjar explores the invisible cages that shape our lives fear, loneliness, grief and social expectations. This ceremony reflects the film’s core message of freedom, hope and self-discovery.”

Producer Animesh Ganguly added, “Pinjar is a story of resilience and breaking barriers. Through this symbolic initiative, we wanted to celebrate the spirit of freedom and extend that message beyond the screen.”

The event witnessed the presence of the film’s distinguished cast, including Mamata Shankar,Joy Sengupta, Mallika Banerjee, Sagnik Mukherjee, Satakshi Nandy, Ishan Mazumder, Tathagata Mukherjee,Swastidipa Rabidas and Samiul Alam, alongside an eminent gathering of guests from diverse fields.

Among the notable attendees were Alokananda Roy, celebrated Indian classical dancer, choreographer, social reformer and dance therapist; Sudarshan Chakraborty, internationally acclaimed dancer and cultural icon
Amit Sengupta, Head of Media & Communications – East & Northeast India, British Deputy High Commission Kolkata; Saira Shah Halim; Nandini Gupta, Owner of Fenicia Lounge & Resorts; Prof. Dr. Shabina Omar, Head of the Department of English, University of Calcutta; and Devanshi Chitlangia, Counsellor at the National University of Singapore, among other distinguished guests.

Further underscoring Pinjar’s growing international reach was the presence of Isabella Sreyashii Sen, Co-CEO of Hazelnut Media, Singapore. Along with Belgian CO-CEO Olivier A. Dock, she is associated with the film as its International Distributor, Executive Producer and Impact Producer. Their collaboration reflects the increasing global interest in Pinjar and highlights the film’s journey from a regional story to one with international resonance.

Adding a powerful social dimension to the occasion, Sudhamta Foundation India, led by Founder Arumita Mitra, partnered with Pinjar as its Charity Partner. In a touching gesture that resonated deeply with the film’s message, two underprivileged girl children participated in the symbolic bird release, reinforcing the belief that freedom, hope and opportunity should be accessible to all, irrespective of social or economic barriers.
More than a promotional event, the ceremony served as a reminder that true freedom extends beyond physical boundaries it is the liberation of the human spirit. As the birds soared into the sky over the Hooghly, they carried with them the film’s message of resilience, compassion and the enduring power of hope.

Pinjar releases in cinemas on 10th July 2026.
